Hmm, interesting technique- I'm gonna try this today in Bitwig. I think I can assign different notes to different midi channels which may be fun.Because the OP also asked for techniques ... I like this one:
For chords: dissect the chord notes and send each - in case we're talking about triads in this example - of the three notes to another synth that runs in legato mode. Provides nice transitions especially when the individual glide time differs a [tiny] bit. If your synth patches use modulating LFOs, experiment with wave, phase and re-trigger of the respective preset, too, to make the transition even more floating and/or interacting with each other.
For single note sequences: double the sequence and transpose the copy down or up. Then use the same routing and edits mentioned for chords.
