I noticed you said you were playing chords but Iron is also playing chords. By default, when you hit a key you get that power chord, not just that note. You have to change the Chord Mode to "Note" so you can play your own chords.Still having the same problem (in Iron) that I had with Silk: I drag a MIDI file into my piano roll and it doesn't play all the notes. It consistently omits the same notes. The same note appears at a different time and it plays, but at some time it never plays. It plays reliably live, and the MIDI sequence is complete, but from MIDI it won't play it all.
Overall, I think your problem is that you are not approaching the instrument in the correct way. Don't overthink it, it's the simplest thing in the world to use. Just sequence it exactly as you would play it. i.e. Put the keyswitch for the pattern you want into the Sequencer, with the notes/chord you want to play in the octaves above it. There is absolutely no reason to be dragging the MIDI patterns into your sequencer. I don't even understand why they put that feature in.
These instruments are really good, you can do stuff like this with minimal effort and zero knowledge of how to play guitar. This is an Ultravox over I did a few years ago, which uses several different playing styles, all done with a single instance of Iron, playing the same patch throughout -

If this isn't really what you're looking for, I suggest you try out the free version of Shreddage. Well, they say "free" but they ask for a $5 donation to cover their server costs, which I think is more than reasonable. You'll also need the free Kontakt Player to load it into, which you can get from Native Instruments. I use both things for different purposes. I use VG-Iron for its phrases and Shreddage when I want to play the notes/chords. I also use VG-Carbon quite a bit, for both things, and I often layer two of them to get more oomph. This one uses Carbon and Iron together (no vocals this time), I shouldn't have to tell you what it is -
