Same here. I wonder if I'm just really adjusted to the paradigm of having a certain number of generators and filters in front of me instead of a choose-your-own-adventure fully modular environment. It somehow reduces the friction of experimentation for me. I find Avenger is a happy medium between the two. A more conventional synth but with the ability to add a whole bunch of modules if you need them. This is a good example of different strokes for different folks. Phase Plant is a powerhouse, indeed, but I also prefer Current's UI to it. I've found it more intuitive to build a patch from the ground up and to get inspired with. But, that's just me, and I'm cool with it.Phase Plant's interface is my favorite of all my synths--not at all "needlessly complicated." Not a chore at all--it's my favorite synth to patch with given its ease of use.
That said, I've been using Current more than anything else recently. Their FX plugins are so good, it encourages me to make the effects a part of the sound rather than something I slap on afterwards for a bit of polish. Looking forward to when they release waveshifter as its own plugin.
