Re: Wave Alchemy - Triaz Native - No Kontakt -- Free for current owners!

I put Triaz through its paces today and tried to use it on the song I'm currently producing. There was a lot to like about it but I am struggling to integrate it into my workflow and am not sure it's going to work for me.

First problem is that I really like the presets that come with Triaz, it's actually one of the reasons I was drawn to it, but I don't like the fact that you can't mix and match. So, maybe I like the kick/snare/hats from one preset but want to see if I can find the percussion from another. As far as I can tell you can't lock some of the lanes and audition the others from presets.

Second problem is that I like to alter the pattern throughout the song and you do have lots of different slots for different patterns. But, you can't say find a preset that you like and save to slots 1-4 and then listen to some other presets and save them to patterns 5-8 and so on. Once you choose another preset then it overwrites all the slots.

Third problem is that I like to build the song with different patterns and then go back and change/edit what I've done. But you can't lay out the patterns onto a song line without dragging it to the DAW. But once you've dragged it to the DAW you can't easily re-import it back into Triaz to edit it later on and the pattern may well get lost once you've started loading other presets to listen to them.

All these problems are inter-related to some extent but having played about with it then I think it may just not work the way I'd like it to and maybe it's more for people who want to just create one beat and have it playing throughout the whole song. I use Superior Drummer 3 for acoustic drums and I really want a similar workflow for my electronic beats but Triaz isn't there yet.

I'll persevere and give it another go tomorrow to see if there are any good workarounds but I think it may be Triaz 2 or Triaz 3 before it does what I need.
