More interesting would be a kind of adaptive unison. Like an ensemble with a fixed number of players. If a single note is played, all play the same pitch. If two different pitches are played, half of the players play one pitch, other half plays the other pitch. Including a priority for the lowest or highest pitch if its not dividable by the number of played pitches.
A pretty good polyphony would be a 12-voice unison, as 12 is the best divisible number. (1,2,3,4,6) Multiples of 12 would be also nice…
