The allure of the Polysynth is very much for the standalone crowd of maschine+ users even to this date. On the surface, it’s a basic 2 Osc synth with an uninspiring GUI, but inside Maschine+, it’s a powerful hardware synth with sequencing, arp/chords, layering, param-locking/automation, and multi fx, capabilities. Yes, your daw will have these natively on the PC, but for a disconnected experience, this was a huge addition. I wish they created FM8 and possibly even Massive sound creation capabilities. For now, these are just tweakable preset players. Can’t build sounds from scratch on them. Other than Polysynth, really outside of sampler & monark, there isn’t much for sound design without a PC. So I’m still just as excited with Polysynth launch.
