Re: Roland Cloud

Sound Canvas VA is built on a different framework than other Roland Cloud instruments and effects,

wow what a load of total bs is this?..hahahaha
lol, LMAO even.

What a shameful display. When you think Roland couldnt get any lower, they give this as an explanation.

Pfft certainly lower than Behringer now in my brand rating. That is coming from someone who used to have "behringer free recordings" stamped on his releases :D

:tu: :clown: :tu:
That 'framework" is the emulator for Roland's custom BMC chip and operating system used in Roland Hardware

Currently the ACB Synths and the Zen Core Synths in the current hardware lineup all run BMC chips

All Roland does is port that software over to the Cloud and set it on top of the BMC emulator

For the time being that means that any of the software instruments that have Roland Hardware equivalents are safe, but the ones that don't are on the chopping block

It's also why we haven't seen anything new as Roland really hasn't had any new hardware in several years, they just keep rehashing Zen Core with the same instruments

What that means is that the JV1080, XV5080, and all of the SRX derivatives are very much at risk as they don't have ACB or Zencore hardware equivalents

The D50 and JD800 run on Roland Hardware with the boutique line, as do the analog emulations and of course all of the Zenology based instruments

The risk this behavior indicates is that when Roland stops supporting BMC, or comes out with something to replace ACB/DCB and Zen Core they will also stop supporting all the software that runs that code which means your lifetime keys become worthless

And make no mistake those BMC chips are now very long in the tooth. New chips would be faster and cost less to produce, and would mean the hardware gets greater polyphony and more accurate models

When Roland comes out with a new hardware platform and ACB2 or whatever the first thing they will do is new emulations of the Jupiter 8, Juno, TB303, etc

And that new hardware will mean new plugins and the death of the existing ones

My guess is this is very close on the horizon, which explains why there have been zero new anything for two years
