MDE-X, M1, and WAVESTATION are like that and treat the VST2 version as the main resource that the VST3 loads the guts of. Triton, opsix native, ARP 2600, wavestate native aren't like that and work without the VST2 version on disk. It doesn't really bug me. Actually, it might have been nice in the case of ARP 2600 where the plugin is 200mb+ and it has both a VST3 instrument and VST3 effects version in separate dylibs/dlls
That's a lot of disk space for just the plugin! (I'm guessing it's mostly image resources.)
