but in this example: i (personally) don't like that colour
something more elegant would be nice
or a (thick ?) hilite-border around the corners of the active op ?
(p.s.: i prefer the MKII skin scheme)
That was just a mockup to see if we were talking about the same thing
In the current GUI it's very easy to tell what operator is active to be edited as it's clearly displayed in the upper right window which is where you edit things

In this case it's Operator 2 and it's early labeled. You can clearly see where operator 2 is in the Algorithm tree as again it's clearly labeled

Not to mention in every DX7 algorithm Operator 2 is always the top left operator if you have a stack of two operators on the far left of the tree

As a long term DX7 userr and user of your plugin since the day of its release, please do not change it or if you do make it optional to highlight it like in your mock up
